 2008-2009 Honours Day & Bowler of the Year

Honours Day, sponsored by Southern Cross Building Society was held at Rotorua Bowling Club on Sunday 3rd May in very pleasant autumn weather. Twenty six teams took part in the closing day tournament with some Club teams entered & Centre teams put together.  This made for some very keen competition amongst the teams. 
The winners on the day were Ross Owen, Steve Hughes, David Janes & Pauline Choat with 3 wins + 18, Second were John Bush, Keith Arthur, Noeline Williams, Jean Glengarry with 3 wins + 13 and Third was an Arawa team of Fred Rush, Jim Stewart, Trish Aliprantis, Margaret Ormerod with 3 wins + 6.

After the bowls and the presentation of the trophies won during the season was the announcement of the Secondary School's Bowler of the Year and the Bowls Bay of Plenty Bowler of the Year.
There were 3 nominations for the Secondary School Bowler of the Year who were Ali Choukry (Katikati),  Erica Purdy (Ohope) & Cameron Riddington (Tauranga South) - winner was Cameron Riddington.

There were 8 nominations for Bowler of the Year this season.  Nominations were Paul Anderson (Mt Maunganui); Mary Campbell (Tauranga South); Josephine Connolly (Omanu); Iain Dalton (Tauranga South); Dot Palmer, Robyn Martin, Wendy Green, Lynette McIntosh, Glennys Hodgson (Taupo); Jean Morris (Matua); Dot Palmer & Robyn Martin (Taupo); Judy Roycroft (Tauranga). The winner was Iain Dalton.
